My name is Jena H. Casbon, MS CCC-SLP.
I help clinicians start their journey to private practice
one step at a time.
I am thrilled that you're here - because we are a lot alike, you and me. We are both helping professionals who are trying to increase the quality of life of our clients.
Private practice has allowed me to have more control over how I practice, achieve greater balance in my life and fulfill a lifelong dream. If you can truly say that you love what you do, why not do more of it, on your own terms? I'm Jena and I love working with adults with aphasia and clinicians just like you. |
Back in 2006, about a year after completing my CF, I started treating private clients "on the side" of my regular job at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston.
I was lucky to have two mentors to help get me started with understanding logistics and best practices.
After a few years of treating my own clients, I decided to help fellow clinicians who were interested in starting their own private practices.
I started off as just a blogger, sharing information and resources online but the content grew into two books, The Guide to Private Patients and The Guide to Creating a Web Presence for Your Private Practice.

I Will Teach You Exactly How to Start Treating Private Patients
You’re a speech, occupational or physical therapist who wants to help more people.
You also want to be paid a fair rate for your expertise.
Here’s the deal:
You can be a “helping person” and still learn the business skills you need to know in order to run your own private patient business.
You already have the clinical skills –> Now you need to learn more about liability insurance, documentation, paying taxes, setting your rate, etc.
You also need a confidence boost that you can do this.
If You’ve Always Wanted to Have a Private Practice...
Almost every SLP, OT and PT I’ve ever know has dreamed of having the flexibility, prestige and income that go along with having your own private practice.
But no one wants the headaches of paying for office space, dealing with employees or hours of bookkeeping.
What if I told you that you could treat a few patients each week “on the side” and double your salary?

Some kind words from people I've helped:
“Your website and book have provided me with a wealth of information! Thank you so much. I'm excited to get started with my new business. I do have 1 client already and she's a doll! Just trying to wrap my brain around the business side of it all. But got my first paycheck today!! So that's encouraging!! Thanks again for sharing your business ideas with us. Great help!!!”
- Debbie C., Speech-Language Pathologist
“Hello Jena,
I purchased your book. It has taken me to a new dimension in my private practice as an occupational therapist. I cannot believe how your book answered a prayer that I was repeating all summer."
- Cheryl D., Occupational Therapist
“Hi Jena,
I have successfully started treating clients as part my business Superior Kids LLC. I do feel that I owe you a big thanks for putting my best foot out there and giving it a try. Currently I am seeing private pediatric clients in their home. I do also have a full time school based job on the side! Thank you for your encouragement and resources!!”
Sincerely,
- Michele J., Occupational Therapist
